Live Webcams in Lerici

Lerici, in Liguria, is the town on the eastern side of the Gulf of La Spezia, the bay the Italians call the Golfo dei Poeti, and the live webcams in Lerici show why the poets stayed: the beaches along the bay with their umbrellas and boats, the castle on its rock above the harbour, and the water, which turns from turquoise at the shore to deep blue towards the islands at the mouth of the gulf. The town keeps Central European Time, UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer, and the light on the castle and the bay is best in the late afternoon, when the sun comes round from the west. Some 10,000 people live here, and summer fills the shore from May to September. The castle dates from the 13th century, when Pisa and Genoa fought over this coast; the beach below the town is the Venere Azzurra, the blue Venus.
