Live Webcams in Ilulissat

Ilulissat, on the west coast of Greenland at the mouth of the Icefjord, is a town named for icebergs, and the live webcams in Ilulissat show why: the water of Disko Bay in front of the town, filled year-round with ice calved from one of the fastest-moving glaciers on Earth, the bergs drifting past fishing boats and, in summer, the spouts of humpback whales. Ilulissat keeps UTC−2, UTC−1 in summer; from late May to late July the sun never sets, so the bay is lit at every hour, and in winter the dark hours bring the aurora over the ice. The glacier feeding the fjord moves some 40 metres a day, and the fjord has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004. Danes know the town as Jakobshavn. June to August for whales and midnight sun; winter for the northern lights.
