Live Webcams in Kiso Valley

The Kiso Valley, a forested cleft through the mountains of Nagano in central Japan, kept the old inland road between Kyoto and Edo, and the live webcams in the Kiso Valley start where the road did: the wooden post towns at first light, the cedar and cypress of the valley and the passes toward Mount Fuji. Kiso keeps Japan Standard Time, UTC+9, with no daylight saving, so a dawn start in the valley falls around 20:00 UTC, late evening in Europe, and midday for the east coast of America. The road it follows, the Nakasendō, ran through 69 post stations, and the wooden inns of Narai-juku are among the best preserved on the whole route. May brings the fresh green to the valley; late October brings the colour.
