Live Webcams in E/V Nautilus

E/V Nautilus, a 64-metre exploration vessel berthed in the Port of Los Angeles between seasons, spends its summers over seafloor no one has seen, and the live webcams from Nautilus take you down with it: tethered robot submarines thousands of metres below the ship, their lights on hydrothermal vents, ancient corals, octopus and sixgill sharks, while the scientists on deck narrate what passes and admit when they cannot name it. Between dives the ship waits in port. The ship keeps the time of wherever it is working, in its Pacific seasons often Hawaii time, UTC−10, and dives run around the clock, so mid-dive is a matter of luck rather than hour. The submarine is rated to 4,000 metres, which puts most of the seafloor within reach. June to October is the expedition season; the rest of the year the vessel is in port.
