Boyds is an unincorporated community in the north of Montgomery County, Maryland, some 43 kilometres north of Washington, D.C., and the live webcams in Boyds look at the quieter side of the capital region: farmland and woods along country roads, the parks and the lake on its edge, and the open land of the county's Agricultural Reserve. Boyds keeps Eastern Time, UTC−5, UTC−4 in summer, the clock of Washington and New York, so a Maryland morning is a European afternoon. Some 9,500 people lived in the community at the 2020 census. The commuter trains of the MARC Brunswick Line stop at its small station on their way into the capital, and Black Hill Regional Park, around Little Seneca Lake, lies next door.
